P90X Motivation Through Gratitude

How can gratitude increase your P90X motivation? Coming from a place of gratitude can positively impact the way you view the world. During times with so much uncertainty, it is easy to become cynical or negative. Listening to the news, hanging around negative people and experiencing difficulties in life all can contribute to an overall negative attitude. You can choose who or what to listen to. You can allow yourself to be influenced by negativity, or you can adopt empowering ideas that lift your spirits.

It is easy to get caught up in the daily grind of life and complain about how things could be better. It takes a stronger person to take action and do something about it.

Before complaining about something, I challenge you to first name 3 things you are grateful for before you vent and complain. More times than not, doing this can alter your paradigm. What is a paradigm? It’s a ways at looking at things.

Take for example Nick Vujicic, a man born with no arms or legs. Do you think he has had his shares of bad days? Sure he has. And he seems to be open and honest about it. Do you think he has ever fantasized about having arms and legs knowing that most people around him do?

Next time you feel jaded or beat down by doing a P90X workout or any endeavor in life which requires dedication or discipline, think about Nick and the things he has overcome to be where he is today.

Action Steps

  1. Write down 10 things you are truly grateful for right now. Can’t think of 10? Force yourself! Doing this exercise will open your eyes to wonderful things you may be taking for granted. These can be your reasons for persevering when things in P90X get tough.
  2. Volunteer for a worthwhile cause. Something I have experienced when dealing with individuals in less fortunate circumstances, I realize that I have no bad days. No matter how bad I feel things are, things could be worse. Helping others in need makes you feel grateful.
  3. Think of Nick. If you have all of your physical and mental faculties, take a moment and think of Nick…then realize you have already been blessed.
